Knuckles Makes His Debut In ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ Trailer

Jade

Paramount has now dropped the first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, giving fans of the franchise the first look at Idris Elba‘s Knuckles.

Featured above, the clip begins with Sonic fighting crime and hanging out with James Marsden‘s Tom Wachowski before the dark and ominous return of Doctor Robotnik, played once again by Jim Carrey, threatens the fate of the world. Unlike the first film, Eggman is now assisted by the famed red echidna Knuckles, who takes Sonic on in a fight at the end of the trailer. Luckily, the blue speedster also has a new friend, as Tails makes his own debut with the iconic Tornado propellor plane.

Joining Elba, Carrey, and Marsden will be Ben Schwartz, who’ll reprise his role as the titular protagonist alongside Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, Shemar Moore, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey. Jeff Fowler also returns as director to adapt the screenplay written by Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and John Whittington.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will hit theatres on April 1, 2022.
