Hogwarts Legacy’s new trailer previews an immersive world of magic, exploration and enemy battles. Viewers should note that this particular video is a cinematic trailer, so it focuses more on world-building rather than actual gameplay.
The video opens with an owl embarking on the journey to deliver a letter of admission to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. On the way to its destination, the owl makes a shortcut through the main castle, where viewers catch a glimpse of Professor Weasley. Given that the game is set in the year 1890, she’s likely the great great grandmother of the Weasley clan fans are familiar with from the main Harry Potter series.
Moving on to the Forbidden Forest, the messenger owl dodges spells from a group of students battling against giant spiders, followed by another trio taking on a fire-breathing dragon, before dropping the letter into the hands of a future student.
Avalanche Software is developing the action role-playing game, with Warner Bros. publishing. While the trailer mainly focuses on Hogwarts, the game will also offer the opportunity to explore other locations in the Wizarding World, including Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. Players will engage in a highly-customizable experience, creating their own character, making friends with fellow students, attending classes at Hogwarts, as well as building their skill sets in potions, casting spells, riding magical beasts.
Hogwarts Legacy will launch first on Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on February 10, followed by a release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on April 4. Lastly, The title will come to Nintendo July 25.
